What's included
A comprehensive scheduled service, typically covering oil, filters, fluids and a full inspection.
What affects the price
- Engine size and whether the car takes long-life or specialist oil
- Whether the service follows the manufacturer's schedule or a garage's own checklist
- Which filters are due — air, pollen, fuel — as these are not all replaced every time
- Whether the total includes any VAT due — registration alone does not determine the final price
When a cheap price is a warning
A full service priced close to an oil change usually is one. Ask for the checklist in writing, because 'full' is not a regulated term and it means different things at different garages.
What to ask before you book
- What exactly is on your full service checklist?
- Which filters are included at this price?
- Does this follow the manufacturer's service schedule, and will it be stamped?
- What oil grade do you use, and is it the one my car specifies?
